Short update

Hi all,

We know you’ve been expectant to receive a new firmware image both for the fonera 2.0g and 2.0n. It has taken us longer than expected and many are by know starting to feel impatient and annoyed.

I want to let you know that we are now getting closer to a new release. We have had a couple of ugly bugs that we’ve had trouble to fix but fortunately, it looks like they are under control now. If everything goes well, we might have a beta version for you to test likely next week.

You can expect the connectivity problem with some iTouch (3rd generation), iPhone 3Gs, Macs, and other Broadcom Wi-Fi chipset based devices to be gone. Some stability issues and other will also be fixed.

Thanks a lot for your patience!

Better a stable release late than a buggy one soon. Thanks especially for fixing the connectivity problems.

It’s about time you fix the reconnection issue with my Macs! I already thought about sending my Fonera back.

    Great! Thank you.
What about the VoIP problem? Fonera keeps rebooting when using VoIP.

Thank you for the update and acknowledging the user unrest. I think Foneros would appreciate more frequent straightforward communication like this.

    Looking forward to the beta.

    Thanks for this update.
I agree with Seth that these kind of news are always appreciated.

  9. Jürgen Says:

Is this an automatic update, do I have to do anything else than connect the fonera to the internet?

    Which version number?

Is the voip reboot bug solved so far?

I agree with Seth! It would be good to have a page that informs us about problems the developers are currently working… with what order they will fixed the other bugs (and even some planned dates).
I know that there is a trac, but lately has not been updated (except for the plugin).

@buha. I posted the same question about the VoIP bug here a few days ago. But my post got deleted. Was this the answer?

I bought Fonera 2.0N a month ago and I’m really really disappointed about its incompatibility issues with my two modem router (an US Robotics 9111 and a Siemens Santis 50).
I really hope this firmware release will solve them…

  14. Giuseppe Says:

i hope that with new firmware fonera’ll work as wifi repeater without reboot or crash…

It’s high time for FON to fix the most annoying bugs. So that basic functionality works reliably.

You should make something _STABLE_ not beta, we had enough of beta versions.

  17. Seth Says:

Agreed, I meant to say looking forward to the stable release version. But I would be happy to see another another release candidate version if it fixed some of the bugs.
