OktoPussy-2 is here: nice bugfixes and the very first AP that does meshing with OLPC!
OktoPussy is making making good use of it’s name. Here it comes as OktoPussy-2 ‘reloaded’
In no time it has changed to adapt to the environment. This is the new stuff it brings for you:
- Samba works on WAN! Oh yes… You can finally connect the hard drive of your Fonera 2.0 from your home network! Some people were dying to have this
- More and more languages! Can you speak Traditional Chinese, Dutch? Then the OktoPussy-2 is for you!
- Hey! How about this? we like Windows too! (well, we don’t, but need to pretend). NTFS issues have been fixed so far. If you still experience trouble, go buy a new hard drive! :D
- We have added a nice timer for when you reflash the fonera and get rid of OktoPussy-2 to get the next animal. OktoPussy-2 will say goodbye like a real gentleman. No need to wonder if the flashing is over or not, it will let you know!
Guys… we’re getting closer and closer to the final release. We’re stable, we have closed most bugs. We only have a few features more to add to the base firmware. Get ready for the opening to the world!
What wil be the animal for the first production release?!? Give us some suggestions if you want ;) we won’t listen anyway hahahaha
As a special present, we have 1 more thing for you. Well, some of you. The OLPC plugin: this makes the fonera be the first AP to allow OLPC devices to connect to it!! Oh yes! All OLPC owners should get a F2, the Marvell WiFi dongle and connect it to the F2!! Will F2 become the main Internet access for millions of children over the World?
The files:
- Image - md5sum
- Fon package - use only with Tantor or OktoPussy
- ddns plugin - with new languages (need to uninstall the previous version if installed)
- OLPC plugin
- FONBackup - The backup tool for your F2. Use it in combination with a hard drive and backup all you want. Win, Mac, Linux

Hi out there,
my F2 is not working after applying this firmware.
After a while the WIFI led is green and the Power led is yellow.
Neither a IP is provided over wlan or one og the ethernet ports, nor a wlan network is shown on scanning wlan.
I am still able to get a “redboot” promt.
Can anybody provide my a step-by-step how-todo to recover my F2.
I am using a Mac to to get the redboot.
Thank you for your help.
Regards
Markus

Hi guys,
Thanx for the new firmware.
I would like to new request a feature I mentioned it many times before:
It would be greate to have a little webserver on the fonera2.0 to publish and host easy web content from the usb-stick. Thus it would be necessary to be able to set the webserver service rights only for a single directory in the stick.
Do you think it’s possible? Already? Or planned?

Hi
it seems a lot of features have been implemented in the latest version. Where could I see to-do list of features to be implemented and timeline?

For my webradio application I would really appreciate it!
With Tantor i got some problems using the hci interface…

Markus: http://wiki.fon.com/wiki/Firmware_Update_Instructions
Alessandro: yes bridge should come at some point
steven: laptop.org is the place, but maybe other manufacturer use that chip
Kyros: I think it’s already possible with a bit of tweaking
Boris: developers work on fon-ng but as well on other FON projects, it would be complicated to release a timeline only for the Fonera 2.0
J³: not yet

Dear Inouk,
I could only activate FTP and accessing the usb-stick from inside the private network. But from WAN side accessing html-pages positioned in a directory on the usb-stick was a thing I couldn’t manage so far…
Could you please give us a brief howto for having a little webserver on the fonera2.0 to publish and host easy web content from the usb-stick?
Thanx, Kyros
