Fonera downloader plugin updated for Firefox 4
Hi
Firefox 4 is out and the Fonera 2.0 downloader plugin for Firefox has been updated and submitted to mozilla addons website today. If everything goes fine, it should be available real soon here. This release (v0.1.8) only adds support for Firefox 4.0, no new features.
If you can’t wait, see the ticket in trac with links to the file and instructions to build it for the adventurous.
Javier.

What about chrome? That would be great ;)

For the record, we took a look at doing a chrome extension, but chrome’s extension mechanism is completely different from firefox’s. It’s mostly like greasemonkey scripts, so it doesn’t allow for deeper integration with dialogs, link handlers, etc like we do in firefox. Also, I don’t use chrome. :)
If anyone is up for the task, all the firefox extension code is opensource and located in the fonosfera, so you can steal from it all you want :)

I know what *soon* means. *rofl*
Something greater than 2 years.
We will be patient. ;)

The plugin has been submitted to mozilla. I guess they are still suffering the post-release party hangover :)
The ball is on their court now, as I already said if you can’t wait, you can grab the xpi from the trac ticket.

Well if you achieved something you may celebrate with a hang over and Mozilla definitely achieved something.
Second thought,
FON’s achievements in the past 2 years = 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@joluis
They are working on it. Just be patient……2 years.
Don’t expect a news firmware. It would be easier for you to buy another router.

The download client shows torrents but you cant add a new torrent with the contextual menu. I cant figure it out anyway.

Hi krist,
What exactly are you missing? If you right click on a .torrent file you should have an option to download it with the fonera, also both in the fonrea downloads window and the status bar you have a shortcut to add files to your fonera. If that doesn’t work then maybe you should file a bug:
http://trac.fonosfera.org/fon-ng/newticket
hope this helps.

there is a “download with fonera” button. if i remember correctly there was also a add torrent button. that was on my mac too tho.
i just tried the conextual menu . it didnt do anything. last time i did it , it downloaded the torrent file, it did not start downloading the torrent.
It IS supposed to do that right? right click> dl torrent> adds to utorrent . ?

Hi krist,
You are right, there was a bug. It’s been fixed in 0.1.9. I’ve just submitted the new version to mozilla but if you want it now you can download it from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/es-ES/developers/addon/foneradownloader/versions/1166130
bye.

what didn’t work? You cannot install the xpi or the bug is still happening?
This is the link for the new xpi that shows up in the previous page I linked:
