And Fonera 2.0 G version…..we are the Black Duck…?
December 10th, 2009 at 7:18 pm

Hi all,
Sorry for the lack of communication on our part, we are trying to fix that, but we’re a small team and you’re always welcomed to join the community at fonosfera.org via our mailing list. There you can ask question in other languages if you really cannot speak english, but since we’re a global community english is our prefered language.
Thanks.

Does that Torrent port opening mean that the Bit Torrent Plugin is finally able to also upload? Or is uploading not possible?
And is that 24 hour problem the one that lets WLAN drop often? Cause me and many other people have 2 problems often:
Either youre still in the WLAN, but you have 0 upload/download (some wrote that this has to do with turning on Bit Torrent extension but i don’t know)
You lose connection to your WLAN without any reason (the WLAN is still visible so it’s not the router rebooting or something)
So everyone in our house loses his internet connection about 20-50 times A DAY !!!!
That’s pretty much for a product that should have been finished.
Where the errors that you’re pointing out solving those two problems?
And plz also answer the torrent question
greetings from Germany

Hi,
I updated my router and it’s working. my iPhone seems okay now.
One bug that I found, I saved my configuration to a file before the upgrade. After the upgrade, I uploaded the configuration file, and my fonera rebooted. After this reboot, the list of IPs in “Network” were not there.

December 11th, 2009 at 5:37 am
Why are 2 torrent versions in the plugins folder, 20n and 20n1 ? Which is the default for 2.3.5.0 ? What is the difference between ?

Where is the Fonera 2.0g firmware?
December 11th, 2009 at 7:22 am
Fonera 2.0g is the third Fonera I bought. I would appreciate it, if Fon respected its users and did give updates to older products.
December 11th, 2009 at 10:06 am
+1. Please don’t forget the Fonera 2.0g users. We also bought our Fonera and don’t want to pay again for a 2.0n because the 2.0g is no more updated. Last final 2.0g firmware was released 8 months ago now and both Fonera were supposed to be maintained together.
December 11th, 2009 at 10:24 am
QOS needs 50 kilobytes upload. Yes, it’s normal in germany to still have only 50 kilobytes of upload :/
or is QOS speaking of KiloBIT? no? Looks like bytes. So please add smaller sizes, 50 being a minium you need to add.

I thought with the next release NNTP (NZB) Support will be implemented. Great to see that you did something but i miss the NZB support for usenet users :-(
Thanks guys
December 11th, 2009 at 12:08 pm
this is uncredible… fonera g users could never imagine this. You are loosing all credit
December 11th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
I use the new mediaserver feature. There don’t seem to be very nice UPNP Client apps for mac, i got MediaCloudMac. He finds something with the name that i gave the medaiservice, but 0 files.
Where do i have to put the files on the disk so they get streamed? I have all the folders that get installed by the fonera directly on my disc, and the folder “music” in the same folderdepth, so very first level.
Do i have to put my music folder INTO one of the folders created by the fonera to get them streamed?
There are no help files in the wiki or on any blogs to be found, that’s why i’m asking here.
December 11th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Found a solution! Mac users go use xbmc player, works like a charm, others are often old and don’t work.
But is there no way to hear the music through itunes? xmbc looks great for a freeware but has less filter options than itunes
December 11th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
I’ll be waiting for the release before installling. I grow more and more impatient with the constant disconnects from the WLAN. Fix this ASAP! This is supposed to be product not a prototype!
December 11th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
2.0g version ftw! don’t sell products which are you not going to support. I won’t gonna get any more Fon products.
December 11th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
I’ve some problems with WDS, I can’t configure Wi-Fi on my pc. I put 0000000 like “Onwer” password but I cannot configure… Can I disable WDS?
December 12th, 2009 at 3:24 am
So. Santa Claus deserts 2.0G users??
December 12th, 2009 at 10:19 am
After the Update is the WLAN Connection with the XBOX 360 not more possible!
December 12th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
man, there are lots of trouble to develop for a platform old in start like 2.0 g…. use the promotion to upgrade to 2.0n at half price 40€ and use old 2.0 g for replacement or backup router.
informatic component development today is unfollowable . so if it is not a big expense, upgrade and get a more powerful product.
only the frustration caused about low amount of ram is worth the expense.
December 12th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
@tex83rb
Yes, of course people should buy every product that fon provide. We need to change the device every time the create the new one because the old one is a mistake which doesn’t work property till now? I said big NO for that kind of action. I’ve already have all products which fon develop, but now I’m not going to buy that Fonera 2.0n.
December 12th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Why would anyone who bought a 2.0g 2202 want to get played for a sucker *twice* by buying a 2.0n 2204?
With the 2.0g 2202, Fon released what seemed to be a pretty cool product with a lot of potential. Now all the people that bought them are finally realizing that Fon’s active attention lifespan for this device was about 6 months, and they apparently have been written off. Malarkey!

Incredible, but F2G is back in the shop: https://shop.fon.com/
Fonera 2.0g

Get the wifi router WIRED called “fantastic” and BoingBoing described as “far more featured than the most expensive access point you can get in the shops, costing fraction of the price”!

Don’t worry about missing f20g image - download sources and compile yourself. I did, and it works fine so far.
December 12th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
@Carsten
Could you upload that compiled version to rapidshare or other server?
December 12th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Is there an tutorial for compiling on my own.
I am also not happy about the policy off fon.
Thanks
December 12th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
Congratulations to the firmware team at Fon. As far as new version for the Fonera 2.0g we have a stable version. We also offered 50% discounts for Fonera 2.0g buyers to get a Fonera 2.0n which is much better. That is all we can do for a discontinued product.
December 13th, 2009 at 12:01 am
If what Carsten says is true and an image for v2.3.5.0 RC2 can be built from the sources, why on earth has Fon not already done this and make a ready-to-go firmware image available to all the 2.0g owners?
Do they have any idea how many currently pissed off 2.0g owners they could have _made happy_, just by taking that simple step? I don’t get it.
December 13th, 2009 at 8:15 am
Guys, you can say that 2.0n is the king, I am never gonna buy anything from Fon. Instead I am going to get another Asus, like my WL500G Premium and will not depend on Fon’s lazyness.
December 13th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Thanks for OpenVPN.
Is it me or are some parts of the firewalling still missing? When LAN access is enabled I cannot connect from the client to the LAN or visa versa without some manual iptabling.
December 13th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
I will not publish the self-built firmware anywhere because of three reasons: First, I have removed packages, so this built fits my needs, but I cannot say if it will work on your device without problems. Second, I think FON will not accept any issues reported with a non-standard firmware. Third, what will happen if you got problems with my built? Blame me the same way you blame the FON guys here? No, thank you. C.
December 13th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
What does this mean?
- onlined now only checks the fon server
was it checking/dependant on other services before?
December 14th, 2009 at 1:18 am
I take responsibility for things I do with my device so that is not a problem. I won’t blame you if something goes wrong. I blame FON because the abandon the device without any word.
December 14th, 2009 at 5:09 am
For the love of Crikey, I went ahead and installed Ubuntu just to build an image for the 2.0g 2202, here’s a link for all you “dangerous” types that want to try it. I encourage you to “Blame me the same way you blame the FON guys”. :^B
http://rapidshare.com/files/320573075/20091210_FON2202_2.3.5.0_DEV-RC2.image.html
I just flashed it successfully onto my 2202 and so far I’m having a hard time seeing just what’s different. The Dashboard still shows the previous v2.3.0.1 RC1 firmware, and /etc/banner is even more outdated, here’s what it shows;

* Powered by FON - http://www.fon.com

Busybox and all the other files on the system date from Dec 13th however, so I think it’s the new version, unless I missed something with the svn grab.

Hi,
I’ve just installed 2.3.5 and, as I read somewhere, the torrent doesn’t work. It says that another installation is running and you should wait.
I went to http://download.fonosfera.org/plugins/ and found that all torrent versions are not .tar.gz and you cannot install them.
How do I get the torrent 2.3.5 running?
Thanks

Lose connection to your WLAN without any reason every 2 minutes.
Intel WLAN 5300 AGN (internal Notebook Card, newest driver!)
In the Systemeventlog-> System: TCP/IP-NetBIOS-Help Service Stopped, after this TCP/IP-NetBIOS-Help Service Startet and than is the WLAN Conncention again possible.
Windows 7 Professional
December 14th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Until the 2.0g isn’t updated properly, I’m not considering an ‘upgrade’. If FON isn’t going to support the 2.0g with new updates, I can live with that. They just need to be clear about it.
December 15th, 2009 at 12:38 am
Nice one guys - installed the dev image and my iPod Touch is rockin’ again. Thanks for your efforts :)
December 17th, 2009 at 8:07 am
The last firmware is much more unstable than the previous; don’t upgrade !
